is a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer which combines the property characteristics of high-quality polyurethane elastomers with the processing efficiency of thermoplastics.
Load-bearing parts and articles of complex design can be volume-produced by injection moulding.
TPU sheating, film, hoses and profiles can be produced by extrusion.
Complex hollow articles can be produced by blow-moulding.
TPU's principal advantages include :
High abrasion resistance
Flexibility over a wide range of temperatures
High elasticity over the entire hardness range
Excellent resistance to oils, greases and many solvents
Good resistance to weathering
Absence of plasticizers
Excellent resistance to high-energy radiation
Excellent rot resistance (special grades).
Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE)
Polyone thermo-plastic elastomer family
Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are polymer compounds that have some of the properties of rubber, (softness, elastic memory, flexibility) but unlike rubber, the ability to be re-melted like any other thermoplastic. This gives these products versatility, and offers the designer many possibilities and solutions including replacement of thermoset rubber.
TPE available from PolyOne production is unrivalled in the industry, giving you the customer, the possibility of matching your requirements to the best available TPE type.
As with our other ranges of polymer compounds, we offer local technical support to help you choose the correct material, and sucessfully use it in your product. Of course, being part of an international group gives the ability to support you wherever you need us.
Classification
TPE-V A TPE with rubber-like properties based on a blend of polyolefin and cross-linked EPDM, giving higher temperature and hydrocar- bon resistance. Grades for injection moulding, blow-moulding and extrusion are available.
TPE-S SEBS (styrene ethylene butylene styrene) based. Available in a SEBS (styrene ethylene butylene styrene) based. Available in a flame-retardant. A special range is available for 2-shot moulding giving improved adhesion onto difficult substrates.
TPE-S SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) based. Aimed at applications where economic considerations are a primary consideration.
TPE-O A TPE range based polyolefin and elastomer blends.
